Planning Precision at Europe's Critical Maritime Corridor

The Renovatie Rozenburgsesluis is a highly complex infrastructure project situated within one of Europe's most critical maritime corridors. The project commenced in June 2025 with the preparation and onboarding phase, followed by the design phase at VO. The project is currently in the Definitive Design (DO) phase, with the Execution Design (UO) phase to follow and construction works scheduled to start in October 2026.

The Defining Challenge Fixed Closure Window

The temporary closure of the lock is only permitted for a strictly agreed and contractually fixed period. Any overrun would have significant consequences for marine traffic and logistics across the wider Port of Rotterdam area, where the lock plays a vital role in the transport of goods. As a result, planning precision and control are absolutely critical.
